Columbus Circle Subway Platform

This lovely lady in her arresting fuchsia shawl is from Tibet. She spoke no English, so her daughter translated for me. As soon as I saw those robes, I knew I had to snap her image. She was a little taken aback, as you can see above.

Unfortunately, the cultural gap and an arriving train prevented me from getting more of her story. In fact, the words "blog" and "Internet" seemed to scare her daughter, which surprised me because she looked very Westernized and was in her 20s.

So my first attempt at approaching random interesting-looking people on the street didn't go so well, but boy, this one was a beauty. I love seeing people in traditional dress in the teeming streets of the metropolis.
